Membership Sites Will Be Hot This Year: Introduction

Let’s start this year building some serious income streams with membership sites.

So how’s it going to happen?

First of all, after a 4 months of procrastination I finally got a AWeber membership. What really pushed me to do this was that in a couple of days, since I put a fake Squeeze Page on 5 niche sites of mine, I got more than optins from one particular site. And knowing that money loves speed there’s no more time to procrastinate.

One quote by Bo Peabody keeps spinning in my head all the time:

“Be smart enough to know when you are getting lucky.”

Maybe I’m getting lucky here?

We will have to find out, because I missed a lot of opportunities in 2007, let’s not repeat the same mistake this year.

Why a membership site?

I’ve already mentioned that there weren’t any good products to sell for my niche, so I had a few options:

A) Just sell those products which are already on the market (poor sales letter, optin forms in the copy etc.)

B) Buy a product with master-resell rights and try to resell it. I was not too fond of this, because it might be seen as a form of MLM or something which is illegal.

C) Create my own product.

Or D) Membership site.

I really like the idea of building a membership site because of a few reasons:

1. Monthly residual income (you have only sell once and you get paid over and over again.) It is so much better than having a great month and starting it over again on the 1st day of the next month.
2. Passive cash-flow. After you work you ass for one time you get paid later time and time again.
3. Very high customer value. You only need a few members to make A LOT… You need like 9 customers paying you $37 membership fee, to pay your rent, for example. The numbers are great!
4. You can outsource 100% of this business. Once your membership site is up and running you can outsource other people to take care of your site.
5. You don’t need to be an expert. You are not product creaters, you are just publisher and you don’t have to be an expert. You may not know a squat about cat breeding, but you may know someone who does and that’s all that you need.
6. It is a very sellable business. So that means you will have a BIG PAY DAY one day.

Like Ryan Deiss said: “If this is not a great business, then I don’t know what is!”

What’s the plan?

Here’s the plan. First of all we need to start collecting leads as soon as we can! And that means we need to start collecting them right now! It doesn’t matter that we still don’t have a website built or follow-up letters written. We don’t need to loose any potential customers, so it’s better to start building a database of customers immediately.

So that’s the plan for this moment. And when I will be back home and have access to some tools, we will start creating a decent squeeze page, writing a copy for it and starting to program the site itself.
